Voiceless Retroflex Plosive (Right-tail T)

Instructions:

Articulator: back of the tip of the tongue

Point of Articulation: alveolar/postalveolar/palatal area

Manner of Articulation: (Oral) Stop – A complete closure is made between the articulator and the point of articulation. Since the oral passage is blocked, air pressure builds up in the mouth. When the closure is stopped, an abrupt release occurs.

Voice: voiceless – Vocal folds are apart and are not vibrating.

Bengali (Western dialects), Brahui, English (Indian dialects), Hindi, Hmong, Hungarian (some dialects), Iwaidja, Javanese, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Mutsun, Norwegian, Nunggubuyu, Pashto, Punjabi, Sicilian, Swedish, Tamil, Telugu, Torwali, Urdu, Vietnamese (Southern dialects), Welayta.
